You are missing the important point where I said they also have a game in hand. I would rather call it a 2 point gap at this point since they're almost at full strength and that's not a lot to catch up to. Just one unexpected loss from Liverpool and we may see a change in leaderboard.
now the point gap between Liverpool and Manchester City is 5 points. although Manchester City still has 1 more match compared to Liverpool. if 1 match that has not been played is able to win, it can only be called a 2 point gap.
So it is likely that the competition for champions will be tight until the end of the season.
