If De Rossi 6 months coaching took Roma to the lime light, and they were able to finish among top four this season, then maybe Roma might decide to keep him to see if he will do better next season.
If he can achieve this, he deserves to get a longer contract with Roma like 1 or 2 years. It will be a happy contract for him, to manage a club he played through his long player career. However, it is very risky to put belief in young coaches because they can succeed in one season but usually fail in next one or two seasons. Very few young coaches can actually grow their career smoothly but I hope De Rossi will succeed with his mission in next months of this season for Roma.

he certainly didn't do very well with SPAL but he's young and can gain good experience, so we'll just see how it goes

He was given a good chance but it will also be his very big challenge. Let's see how he will deal with it because taking this job to help his club does not mean he will get sympathy if the club has bad results from his coach management.
