Led by Professor Matthew Green of Johns Hopkins University, Zerocash will be using Blue Midnight Wish as its hash algorithm and will rely on new anonymity features and proprietary source code that are expected to provide greater anonymity compared to Darkcoin but at the cost of not being fully vetted or tested.

Utter failure, right there.

Does proprietary imply hidden or open? If it is copyrighed but open that would be just fine; hidden means BACK DOOR.

In this context I take it to mean closed source. Closed source + initial trust requirement = you'd have to be daft to use Zerocash.

Darkcoin and Darksend will be open source, available for all to inspect, and zero-trust.
