If what you're are suggesting is possible in reality, then no one would be doing anything at all because what you love doing might be what I hate and if I should obey you and stop gambling, you should also obey me and stop what you love doing.

What you would have said that would have been reasonable would have been that you hate gambling addiction and that people addicted to gambling should stop it. Then it would have been a reasonable conversation to engage in .
At first glance, this parting word sounds strange and of course raises questions.
