Roma should have been aware that De Rossi need time to transform the team. It would be unfair to expect immediate and drastic changes under De Rossi. Competing at the highest level requires a well-rounded and competitive squad. Relying solely on results might lead to short-term gains but may not be sustainable in the long run. Developing a more cohesive and effective style of play is essential for sustained success, and it's positive that the club leadership recognizes this by evaluating De Rossi's performance beyond just immediate results.
The contract structure with an extension based on performance adds a layer of accountability that motivates both the coach and the team to work towards long-term improvement. With many games left in the season, there's ample opportunity for De Rossi to implement changes and for the team to showcase progress both in results and the quality of their gameplay.
I agree and of course they should be granted some time as new coaches when they come to the team and their main task is to do some changes to improve the team. But in the soccer business it is always the same. The reason why they fired Mourinho and now got De Rossi is because they want results fast. Otherwise they could have waited to change the coaches until the end of the season. I think this is the message they wanted to convey to De Rossi. They give him the chance now because they want results now.
