Predicting that Real Madrid is going win La Liga is like predicting that Bayern Munich is going to win the 1. Bundesliga. But for some good reason there are two clubs that could thwart those standard plans and bring about a surprise for all the football followers around the world. It is called a surprise because it wouldn't be normal. Hence, it's quite standard to think that Real Madrid is most likely going to win the title, but give it some time for now. I concur with you and I do because it is less likely that Girona can go at this pace until the end of the season, but Real Madrid is not an almighty team either. Some bad circumstances can cause them to lose games. Bur first of all Girona has to beat Real Sociedad.
In the last 10 years, Real Madrid have only won the La Liga title 3 times, while Bayern have won 10 out of 10 titles, so I think this anology is inappropriate. If we take the current season, then surprisingly the picture is the opposite: Real Madrid has a higher chance of winning La Liga than Bayern has to win the Bundesliga.
Girona obviously cannot keep up with Real's pace and has begun to lose points frequently, Real's advantage over the other two historical rivals is 10 points, so I think that the question of the title holder is 95% closed.
You are right of course, but you based your comment on the wrong assumption. If you look at the past decade then there is no doubt that your statement is correct, but I was rather referring to the status quo in La Liga as of today for this season. I wouldn't have written this if Barcelona was on par with Real Madrid right now, but it is an underdog team from Girona and in the Bundesliga it is Leverkusen. That is why I brought up this comparison. What's the chance that an underdog wins the title being on par with Real Madrid when there are 15 games to go? It would still be a miracle. Now Brahim took the lead and within a few weeks this season could be over if Girona drops points in one or two more games and Real Madrid wins the next home game against Girona. That would be 7 points then.
