Real Madrid's miss gave Girona another chance as they looked to overtake Real Madrid again in the next match. But although this is a big opportunity for Girona, it is doubtful whether Girona will be able to take advantage of the opportunity because the next match Girona will play against Real Madrid. That match is very important for both teams. Whichever team wins that day will qualify for the number one position in the points table. If Real Madrid wins the match then Real Madrid will lead by more than 3 points which will make it very difficult for other teams to dislodge them from the first position.
Talking about qualifying for the position of the top team I don't think there's any qualifications with league games like this except for tournaments where teams from other leagues are coming to play but I understand that to be at the top of the la Liga table, that fixture will really have a lot to do for both teams and they are both away of how crucial the game is.
I still believe real Madrid is going to further strengthen their position at the top of the table by winning the game against girona in their next fixture even if Giron will still prove difficult to beat because they want to get back at the top of the table again where they once were, but then if they win and get ahead of Madrid, I'm sure Madrid will still be able to get ahead of them because two points isn't enough for them not to be able to cover up for in the shortest time but Girona may not be able to do same if they lose.
