Links are not so interested by newbies who doesn't know how the industry really works, basically they finds it hard and error in undergoing through links before they could find a readable content.
Moreso, beginners that needs help in this platform is tasked to acquire diverses of knowledges through individual contributions on board here so, it is by choice to decide what topic you finds interests to get on with rather than compiling the topics on a particular thread just as you OP has suggested. As you have suggested, there a way a newbie will get determined for what he wants by first taking the step on making search about it while exploring the forum, even if we should provided every required and necessary links a newbie needs to start the forum with, he also need to make moves on how-to get used with the community and also discover more other things beyond what have been given, it all begins by being active, reading through the threads on various boards and making other research online, a newbie also have the priviledge of usig the search button for other areas already discussed here on the forum.
