I see so many people that come around here sharing how much bitcoin they own...don't. Just like any of your finances such as your portfolio or how much your annual salary is..it's no one's business but your own. Being transparent about these things can be harmful to you in a multitude of ways.
There are actually some benefits if you share your actual experiences in earning BTC. But I do agree with your statement that sharing specifically the amount that you have in BTC can be dangerous for your safety and security. Even if we are somehow anonymous in this forum, there may be ways where people could track your location, thereby compromising your safety in the process.
As an advisor this is something I tell my clients all the time. Your financial info is private and should always remain that way. I hate these new social media trends where people walk up to strangers on the street and ask things like "how much do you pay in rent" or "how much money do you make a year"...ignore them!
I do get it that some people share their earnings as a form of inspiration to others in order to attract more people in investing in cryptocurrencies. But, there are ways to inspire without even compromising your safety in the process. By sharing your earnings, there can also be a misunderstanding that you are bragging instead of inspiring.
