The primary aim of the Saudi government to finance the biggest stars in football is to bring immense viewership. Playing very well is only an additional reward. Fans and the media will be interested if big football stars are brought into the Saudi League. When they show interest, it implies many cable corporations all over the world will pay the Saudi League for the right to broadcast the matches.

At present, the Saudi League keeps on putting resources into bringing numerous football stars. However, there is something to worry about if these stars stay long, they are now rich and they probably would not consider extensions any longer very much like Benzema who is looking for an exit.
Yes, that's how they promote their league to be watched by football fans from all over the world, if they don't do that, the Saudi League will not grow further and only Arabs will watch matches in the Saudi League, so they bring in several famous star players who have many fans to attract more interest from football fans to watch their favorite players play in different leagues and always support them wherever their favorite players are, but there are also those whose careers fade after playing in the Saudi league because declining performance can make fans disappointed and not again supporting his favorite player.

It doesn't matter how expensive the star players are because the Saudi League's finances are very good so they don't have a problem having to spend quite a lot of money to buy star players from different leagues, if only Lionel Messi were in the Saudi League, maybe now the Saudi League is getting more famous but unfortunately Lionel Messi prefers MLS and spends his football career there even though we all know that the Saudi League is better than MLS. Likewise, it is rumored that Karim Benzema does not feel at home in the Saudi league, but in fact this is still just a rumor because Karim Benzema is still playing with Ittihad to this day.

Can they rely upon their financial condition forver? It will be another disaster caused by real madrid will never ever got profit from what they have ben invested. Im sure that saudi pro league was using a lot of resources to push the popularity from this league. Let's imagine that when these old players will retire someday.
It will be also making the league to get another setback. So, the league shall not only focus on how to buy the players but it must be also focusing on how to build good environment to make european players feel convenient to stay in the saudi pro league. This is the most possible solution that can be done by saudi pro league.
