When the economic situation worsens, it becomes very difficult to survive there.  But with certain steps you can survive the tougher conditions.  You should always spend with the future in mind and save enough money for the future.  There is no guarantee that you will be fine tomorrow or that your financial condition will be fine tomorrow, so you can save a certain amount from your income.  Apart from the job, make yourself proficient in various creative activities so that you can use those skills during the disaster to survive in the adverse environment.  Try to be frugal and don't spend more than necessary.  Spend according to your income.
