I missed out on the game but this was a crucial game, though I settled for highlights, Arsenal dominated the game fulltime but got unlucky when it comes to goals scoring. Porto winning Arsenal in the first leg sends a message to the English team to become prepared to hosts Porto in the second leg. Mikel Arteta and his team had a dissapointing results but they have nothing to worry about because there's full hope in the second leg of the round of 16. Gunners will bring on every they got left, this is certainly not an opportunity for them to misused rather make proper advantage of this particular chance.
The hope is still there and is still very big for Arsenal to be able to turn things around in the second leg, but they still have to be careful because it looks like Porto can reduce Arsenal's game and this was proven in the first leg, even though Arsenal controlled a lot of the ball, Arteta's tactics couldn't penetrate. Porto's solid defense.
In this match, what stole a little attention was Pepe who was in the starting line-up and he was even plotted to be captain of the Porto team, and Pape was named the oldest player and captain to play in the Champions League this season at the age of 40.
I can say Porto really succeeded with the strategy they played so that it allowed them to win the match in this first leg. Although Arsenal controlled the game, they did not find a gap to get deeper into the defense built by Porto and it was interesting to see that they could not even create a shot that really led to the target. Porto struggled too, but I consider it their luck that they were able to score in stoppage time and send Arsenal home with a defeat. I also think a draw is a fair result for both teams given their stats, but it's a game of football that can throw up some surprises.
