Girona tried their best but were unable to win against Athletic Club. The loss against Real Madrid also affected them greatly. I thought when they met with Athletic Club, they could recover, but unfortunately, they couldn't. Now, Barcelona will be facing Athletic Club on the 3rd of March. If they win, they would have a higher chance of moving further ahead of Girona, but if they lose, Girona will gain more chances than them. So, I'm sure both clubs are currently strategizing for the best outcomes in these upcoming matches. We are eagerly awaiting the matches.
For some reason, it seems like Girona is unable to continue performing as they were doing previously in this season. After the loss against Mallorca in the Copa del Rey match, the performance seems to have gone down for them. They were unable to win a single match since then. That has done two things.
First of all, it has been really easy for Real Madrid to get a very good lead.
Secondly, they have made it very hard for themselves to compete for the title and also stay in the second position of the table.
You know, right now they are only two points ahead of Barcelona. Which is definitely scary. Their finishing in the second position or having any kind of competition for the title is definitely in jeopardy right now.
