Your point is well taken. PSG dominates Ligue 1; is it untouchable? With an 11-point advantage this season, they're unlikely to be caught. Their draw with Rennes didn't affect their title run, as I witnessed. With the Champions League in mind, their method is intriguing. To stay fresh for a huge encounter against Real Sociedad, rotating players is smart. They have bigger goals than winning Ligue 1. I mean, who blames them? Top teams compete on all fronts, and PSG is playing long-term.
I've never trusted this team beyond their performance in the domestic league. They seem to struggle outside of Ligue 1. Other leagues appear to be more competitive than the French league. Even though PSG is leading the league, they often win Ligue 1 and thats common. Despite bringing in quality players, this team still struggles. No changes at all.
It's understandable, even though PSG have experienced ups and downs in performance in Ligue 1, they will not lose the trophy when the season ends. In the Champions League, PSG looks like a mediocre club, in fact it is not the favorite team to win, unlike Madrid or Man City. But I think with the investment they have made so far, PSG is heading in that direction, to become one of the best teams in Europe.
Everything takes time, it is not as easy as turning the palm of your hand, and it must be acknowledged that finances are an important factor in realizing this ambition. We can look at the examples of Chelsea and Man City, two clubs that also invest their money lavishly, but they also need a long time before they succeed in winning the Champions League.
From that point of view, I think sooner or later PSG will have the luck to become kings of Europe. PSG management certainly understands better how to manage a club, and this season they have good squad depth to make a difference, although I know that to get through the group stage they need luck. Who knows, PSG will be lucky this season, or could be lucky in the seasons to come.
