Juventus midfielder and professional football player, Paul Pogba, has released an official statement about the ban he received. He plans to appeal the decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. It's possible that Pogba didn't intentionally take a performance-enhancing pill, but sometimes medications prescribed by doctors may contain substances that aren't allowed in football. Unfortunately, Pogba will face a ban, but hopefully, it will be reduced to two years or less on appeal.
An appeal will certainly be lodged by him, as he will also be seeking to have his sentence revoked or at least receive a lesser sentence. Because the 4-year ban is a very heavy punishment, let alone 4 years punished with a ban on playing in 10 matches alone it is a punishment that a player does not want to get. Because it might affect his performance and with 4 years it could be a career breaker.
I honestly don't think he was doping intentionally, because as a player he should know better. Especially if you say the prescription given by the doctor? I don't think a big player like him would choose a doctor carelessly and we know there are special doctors in the team, are they not aware of this rule? I don't think it makes sense at all. How can someone who handles big players like him be negligent in handling something that even threatens the career of a player? more than that, hopefully the appeal that he will submit can run smoothly and maybe the appeal will be granted with a lighter sentence.
I agree with you that a footballer could not have doped accidentally or unknowingly. Teams at such a level as Juventus have specialists who closely monitor players' diet, supplements and medication. It's too unlikely that Pogba himself didn't keep track of what substances he's not using. But even if he didn't keep track, Juventus medical experts would then point out his medication errors. So I have no doubt that Paul was doping deliberately. It's a shame, but apparently it's the end of a football career for Pogba.
