I strongly suggest that people do their homework before making accusations. more information available at

I think this is the most important part. If we were to falsely accuse somebody here it would be terrible. I really would like to get some bitcoin devs opinion. I have seen many times on [Suspicious link removed]tories of I know this and "I am a genius" statements, for the core devs to come on and show the opposite. We definitely do not want to make innocent people feel criminal, it would be against the very thing I stand for. If, however, we did find impropriety then we the community can discuss it. We need solid advice though.

The problem is that the 'tainted' MSAFE coins could have been traded on the exchange and purchased by someone completely innocent by the time they are redeemed for safecoins.
David Irvine:
Yes this is all the way bitcoin etc. works, when the transfer happens then it's done. If we start to try and chase these down we risk making people very wary of taking btc as payment for anything. This is an area the community can find itself in real trouble. Treading carefully is an understatement as the political ramifications of this kind of thing would be very bad for the crypto currency community.
We need to be sure we all know (me especially) without doubt we have concrete evidence of any such wrongdoing at all.

As people are now posting on reddit and bitcointalk this appears to be Bitstamp's wallet.

Whoever sent this shouldn't have sent funds from Bitstamp anyway since they don't control the keys.
I hope this is the case. I know we have refunded a bunch of people who did that. That allows them to try again if they wish anyway. I have seen this kind of story a lot and it is always followed by a reason to regulate pitch. Not that I think cry wolf but bitcointalk is full of way out there accusations at times, which is a shame. It is a great resource if used properly.
I am sure this will all unfold as time moves on. The bitcoin devs would be pouncing I think if it were likely as that would be damaging to us all.
