It wouldn't be objective if you didn't assess Girona's journey since the start of the season because they are a team that has provided a lot of competition to top teams including Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, who were successfully beaten by Girona's game. Although Girona may not necessarily be able to win trophies, at least with their journey and what they have shown, we would love to have a newcomer who can show a little difference in La Liga. With impressive performances, Girona have their own rights to hope high like winning La Liga and take the trophy from Barcelona, the current champion.
Their expectation naturally can change with time, like they did not hope to win the league when the season started, hoped to win it weeks ago and now might no longer hope to win the league but only hope and try fighting for a position in top four, not necessary to be the second position.
Girona by their limited resources from human to finance resources, already have done many great matches and made La Liga more exciting this season. They have nothing to feel shame about themselves and as an observer, I really hope Girona will at least have a ticket to join UEFA League, either Champions League, Europa or Conference League, next season.
