Just a year and a half ago, he already extended his contract with the club (until 2027), now it is obvious that he has turned into a top player and City wants to sign him with an obviously longer contract and a larger compensation amount. This probably won’t be difficult to do, since Foden has been a City fan since childhood and is as loyal as possible, but if I were him, I wouldn’t be in much of a hurry, since there are still 3 years ahead - why rush? Plus, he's already won everything he could with City, so maybe it's worth leaving some room for maneuver.

You have a good point there as well. Considering his current contract still has three more years to expire there isn't any need to be in a hurry to sign another shortly.

Besides he should think about the possibility of Guardiola's departure in the future as well. We all know Guardiola built this squad according to his system completely. In case of his decision to leave just like Klopp has done next manager choice will be really important for Manchester City. If they can't bring a manager who will continue with a similar system then things can get really interesting. However I assume they would think of bringing Arteta in that case who was already Guardiola's assistant before.  Smiley
Now this is also an important point that the club must note, if a change of coach occurs in the near future (perhaps Pep Guardiola wants to leave) then it will really affect the entire team. Because management must ensure that the next coach they appoint will be able to continue something that was built by the previous coach. It's not just one or two clubs that ended up having to decline significantly after they changed coaches.

There are also usually players who suit a certain system and some who don't. And Pep Guardiola is currently very compatible with the players he has in the squad, which is what ultimately made Manchester City succeed in becoming the best in Europe after they managed to record their first title in the Champions League. I agree that players should not be in a rush to make a decision on a new contract, they must consider and prepare everything, lest the decision they make will make them regret it later. The player can first consider everything before he signs the contract, because this also concerns his future at a club or even his future as a professional player.
