It's so unfortunate to see that a common man cannot longer afford food to eat in Nigeria, a country that is well known for agriculture and high level of cultural heritage. I think the root causes suffering, food insecurity and unsustainable development include: poverty, corruption, incompetent leadership, regional insecurity, tribalism, region differences, national policies that do not promote equal access to food for all, environmental degradation, barriers to trade, insufficient agricultural development, population growth, low levels of education, social and economic instability.
Savings don't make wealth but they help reduce poverty in the sense that, when you have a reasonable amount of money from your savings, you can take out of it to get necessities and another part to start up a business and grow it which will over time and proper management make wealth. One of the fastest ways to make wealth is through Agriculture.
In agriculture, you don't necessarily have to start big. You can start with just a tin of grains or less and use your backyard as your farmland or in a case where you live in a place with little sand you can improvise by using pure water nylons or sacks, fill three-quarter of the bags with sand and plant whatever you want in them.
It's advisable to start with basic foodstuffs so that it will cut down the amount of money spent on food. As u start the whole savings plan, you would eventually get enough to rent land, start farming on a large scale, and sell the products, you would gradually accumulate wealth. Indeed, savings can't make wealth but can serve as a step to making wealth with proper guidance.
