They needed to at least hold on their second position if winning the league gets more difficult, but they are unable to do so. Girona dropped points in important matches that they had to win in order to secure three points, the match against Mallorca and Getafe. In their last match against Getafe, Girona did not play as well as they had at the beginning of the season. Out of thirteen shots, it was only three that were on target without any goal. At the moment, Barcelona is two points ahead of them in second place.
Sure, I also noticed that the beginning of the season was awesome for Girona. They were at the top of the table, and their performance was excellent, but since they met with Real Madrid, it was just as if Real Madrid came and collected their performance and moved from them. Girona's performance is getting poor at these points.
