It could turn them into contenders once again if Lewandowski gets back in form.
I firmly don't want Barcelona to sell Lewandowski to Atletico Madrid, I know that would be a disaster for Barcelona. If Barcelona want to get rid of Lewandowski, then they will probably try to get a higher offer from outside Europe, including from the Saudi Pro League. However, I am sure that Barcelona will try to keep Lewandowski instead of letting him leave at the end of the season.
So far Barcelona does not have a suitable center forward to replace Lewandowski, meaning it is not a good deal to consider selling Lewandowski anywhere next summer. I tend to think Raphinha will be sold as Lamine Yamal seems ready to take the position sooner due to his improved performance, but that is just a rumour.
It would be a shame if Lewandowski was released to Atletico Madrid, it would be wiser if management allowed the player to move outside La Liga. Leave and join the Saudi Pro League or let Lewandowski go to MLS, that sounds better. Lewandowski is very much loved by the fans, it is not the right solution to sell him to a rival club, and it is not the only solution to overcome the club financial crisis. There are many young players who can be released, and it is true that it is not easy to get a quality striker like Lewandowski in the transfer window.
