The point difference between Barcelona and Girona in the league table is just two points in favor of Barcelona. If Girona were in form, they could have put pressure on Barcelona for the second position in the league table. Before Girona becomes consistent in the league, it will be too late for them to rival Barcelona for the second position in the league table.
At least Girona can maintain their position for UCL tickets next season. that's a great achievement this season. Even though in the end Girona had to be replaced by Madrid and Barcelona, their performance this season must be appreciated.
If the Girona team and squad are maintained and perhaps add some players who support their performance, next season they will definitely make things difficult for Madrid and Barcelona in the hunt for the title.
