The only way to threaten Barcelona is to restore their performance to what they did at the start of the season. Recently, Girona seemed to have lost their ability which made it difficult for them to win, Girona was only able to achieve three wins in eight matches, the remaining four losses and one draw. Barcelona which is starting to find its best performance, will continue to maintain its runner up position until the end of the season. I also feel pessimistic about Girona's ability in the second meeting which will be played at Girona headquarters. Barcelona performance continues to improve, making it difficult for Girona to win over Barcelona if their performance still not increasing.
The two point gap is still very possible for Girona to catch up, but with the conditions they have shown in the last eight matches, there is still a possibility that Barcelona will widen the gap between the two.
I think Girona is no longer a threat to Barcelona towards the end of the season, I mean it seems almost impossible for Barcelona to win the title even though mathematically it is still very possible. Real Madrid has an 8 point advantage over Barcelona and because Real Madrid's performance is quite consistent, the best thing for Barcelona to do is to forget about the title and focus on the Champions League ticket next season.
Girona is certainly not in a good trend at the moment, so Barcelona might be able to take advantage of that to win the match. There are no worries about how Barcelona can do as at the moment Barcelona no longer seems to be competing for the title but just doing their best to grab all the points available. But still, Barcelona will play to win instead of losing points.
