Actually, Real Madrid has has a strong performance this season since they were able to beat some of the teams in their previous matches. Why I'm having so much hope for Barcelona is that I know it can be possibly that Real Madrid can win all their of their remaining matches they have to play, is either they lose to some of the teams or draw, and from there they will begin to lose down their points, which will give Barcelona hope to make sure they also perform well in their coming match and dominate the match for them to receive all three points to make their point increase.
Because even though it is too late for them to catch up to Real Madrid, from my own view, if they try to put in efforts and improve their performance, they will still make it and achieve their goal against Real Madrid.
Yes, there is a possibility for Barcelona to catch Real Madrid, but it is very unlikely that Barcelona can prevent Real Madrid from becoming champions this season. Indeed, there are still 9 matches remaining where these two teams could lose points and it is possible that either of them will be able to appear consistent by sweeping all matches and winning. In my opinion, Real Madrid has a bigger chance of becoming champion because they have shown how consistent they are in Laliga this season.
Indeed, Barcelona has shown quite good changes recently because they have been able to occupy 2nd place. Yes, their next target is to reduce the points gap with Real Madrid and one of their hopes is of course to see Real Madrid fail in the upcoming match. Xavi certainly wants to repeat last season success story even though it looks quite difficult but I think they still have a chance to do it.
