I'm not sure that's true. Research shows that most addicts do not know how to recognize the signs of addiction or are in denial. They do not want to admit that they have a problem and it is one of the most difficult aspects of overcoming addiction. In fact, denial is often considered one of the hallmarks of any addiction.
