You don't need to be carrying your seed phrase around and I strongly kick against it. Having your seed phrase somewhere very safe doesn't stop you from accessing and spending your funds. So if you find yourself in some kind of trouble and you need to access your Bitcoin to pay for the services of a lawyer, you can still do that.
