Dallas look so unstoppable, Luka just literrally toying the Rockets and we know what would happen if they'll meet in the playoffs in case the Rockets made some miracle. Their loss and a win by the Warriors resulted to a big separation, but they still have a chance though. I'm not surprise they lose, they are the underdog and the Dallas is playing great basketball, if Luka won't score that much, Irving will take over and everyone is ready to make a shot without hesitation.
What I notice about Dallas is their great 3 point shooting, they are good at finding an open man and Luka being the penetrator, he attracts a lot of attention that makes his teammates open.
Yup, with Luka's penetration he can easily attracts the defense and with his IQ he can pass the ball to any open teammates who's ready to take the shot, it's a good bread and butter for this team as you mentioned when Luka take some break Kyrie is his replacement attacking the defense and creating that same space and provide that same level of skillsets.
In the Rockets side, they've been dominated and there's nothing that they can do as even they try their best Mavs always have that good counter to keep the distance away.
All I can say is both players are playing at their own pace. Kyrie is not trying to mimic Luka but there are times he is infected by how he plays. Passing the ball, taking rebounds, penetrating and kicking, or just shooting anywhere they like.
I think this is the second-best Kyrie Irving that I have witnessed. One in the Boston Celtics and now in the Dallas Mavericks. He accepted his role and we haven't heard anything bad from him ever since he was signed in the Mavs. No drama, just playing ball.
Luka Doncic on the other hand seems to be good at accepting new players. I mean, that should've been hard for him since Kyrie is also a star, just look at what is happening in the Bucks team. It seems like they are playing isolation games and we don't see a Lillard to Giannis combination play.
I thought Luka and Kyrie were a bad combination when it was reported that Kyrie signed for them but now I take my words back.
Yeah, Kyrie understand that it's Luka's squad that he joined and he needed to adjust to what types of system the team have and he needs to blend his game with how the entire team plays the system, I like how Kyrie give way to young Luka letting him to do what's best on him and when Luka needs the lift Kyrie immidiately take over and bring the rhymth back to the entire squad. They are playing great ball game and the system is really fitting to type of plays they wanted to play all along. Looking to see more good chemistries while playoffs is almost around.

The 3 point shooting disparity was huge, Rockets got killed from the outside.
just look at these stats.
Rockets (13-38) 34%
Dallas (24-47) 51%
For a team to shot over 50% from beyond the arc, that means they defense wasn't played wll on them, that's something the Rockets has to learn if they want to have a chance to be in the play-in since the teams they are going to play with are experienced enough, or we can say a playoff teams.
Rockets needs to adjust and keep running to chase the open man, it's tough to protect the arc but it's needed to intercept the outside shots of their opponents, like what you said, they need to protect that area as gunners are just waiting for the outside drop and ready to take it whenever they see the opportunities.
