Some of the things that makes children grow up with wrong knowledge is because their parents kept away information that they needed to know while growing up because they are afraid that if this children have an idea about what they kept away from them that they may start doing those things without their parents awareness but the best way to make a child stay away from a bad habit is to teach the child the basic necessity they need to know and the consequences that surrounds it If the choose to get involved because when you do that as a parent, you have already given the child the knowledge of the dangers involved so even if they are introduced to those things by others outside it will be difficult for them to take part in it.
Not letting our children know that we are gamblers doesn't mean we should keep them away from knowing about the repercussions if they choose to gamble.
I completely agree with you on this one. If you check very well when children are growing up, it's better to teach them things of life as a parent; it's part of the journey of good parenting. Don't let them learn everything all by themselves, or trying to hide things from them might even push them to the wall.
That's why I always say that even if you don't want to allow your child to gamble due to their age, try as much as you can to teach them the disadvantages of gambling, and they should have a reason why they need to gamble, and making money with gambling should never be part of the reason if they want to succeed.
Given their basis, knowledge helps a lot, even if they see misleading information outside. Because of the relationship you have built with them, they can also share their problems with you for help.
Well said Mate.
The first place of learning is the Home. But often some Parents don't teach there ward the core values and characters they need to portrait to be a better personality. School won't teach your ward everything, the connection, and information you pass to your ward will help safeguard them from the venom of the society.
Not gambling in front of your children isn't enough to prevent them from not being gamblers in the nearest time, the orientation you give them is what will safeguard them. Giving them reasons why this habit is negative and destructive and positive habits they should form goes a long way. Preaching the essence of discipline will keep them on track and avoid those distractions.
The guidelines provided and the connection you have with your kids will also make them seek help and advice from you without being afraid of refusal or blame.
