With the amount of donations received and currently sitting comfortably in a wallet controlled by the admins, they do not even need SMF add-ons and patches to launch something truly spectacular for the community. They can hire the best of the best to make a bespoke forum but for one reason or another it never transpired. Years later, we are still waiting but many have given up and accepted this is how the forum will look like even 10 years later.
