I can currently relate to it but might be in different sense than what the person stated.
We are 4 of us working in a department/firm, at equal position and same speciality. We have a lot of things to do and are busy on the office hours, sometimes having to come early and leave late. We also deal with the clients and make deals on how much they are willing to spend and their priorities. One of us (not me), is more fluent on dealing with clients. The day he is in leave or is busy working, our average amount decreases. So we intentionally takes on most of the work on ourselves to free him to talk to the clients.
