Money's fine, I guess, but real friends who have your back are way more important.
You're absolutely right about this,
Someone once told me that richest and financial freedom isn't measured by how much money you've stacked up in your bank account but how connected you are, you may have lots of money but have no connection, then you're not really rich because it's not every problem your money can solve for you, sometimes you need the help of others, your friends, colleagues and even friends of friends to help you solve those problems and if you don't know them, then you'll have trouble getting those problems solved even with all your money.
That's is reality I agree with this because I have been an eye witness in my place a man was wealthy and was adopted by unknown gunmen to a destination far from his home town but though some may call it miracle or mercy but keeping a good relationship with people can't be neglected, because a farmer who saw this kidnappers and rescued the man was some who he has helped when they where issuing fertilizer to farmers, hard it been the wealthy man do anything evil against the farmer it would have been a different matter as the man life would have just go, some problem can be solved by some one that has nothing in the eyes of the society to a wealthy or a richman.
I do not mean to sound rude but I really can't seem to visualize how the two concepts tallies, I mean what I said earlier and what you e just said now.
You're obviously talking about a man who did good to a farmer and in turn the farmer rescues him from his adopters, which is quite an interesting story, but when I say wealth isn't about money alone but also about people U know, I'm talking about connection and influence. If one has money without influence and power then you're not really wealthy, you only have a huge bank account, and money cannot always fix every problem for you, sometimes you need influence and connection to fix certain problems.
Although your story would've emphasize on the concept that one's money cannot always save them, if the man's adopters were assassins and not kidnappers as you aforementioned, because if they're actual kidnappwrs rhen the man could pay them the requested ransom and regain his freedom.
