If you ask me the final game against Augsburg definitely matters a lot to Bayer Leverkusen. They have all the season been producing back to back stoppage time comebacks just to keep up their unbeaten record and you think they would want to just let it slip away at the die minutes. I don’t think they will have to rest players for Augsburg Game as it looks clear that Xabi Alonso definitely eyes the unbeaten record which will be the first of its kind in the Bundesliga and since the one achieved by Arsenal invincibles in 2002.
They play more less 3 finals in less than 10 days and seriously I am backing them to win the games comfortably. I see Xabi only dropping players at most in the DFP pokal final due to the team in contention.
It actually matters the most, because because being unbeaten winner in the league is more historical than DFB Pokal or/and Europa League trophy. That's why Alonso keeps pushing his team to put efforts in their every game. Usually a team who has won the league tend to lose in their remaining games because they don't put effort anymore.
There are 3 teams who won their league with unbeaten record; AC Milan in 1992, Ajax in 1995 and Arsenal in 2002. Arsenal went unbeaten only in the league, the other two went unbeaten in all competitions, including won Champions League trophy. Leverkusen will be on this list, if they can prevent a loss against Augsburg, and this gives more prestige in the historical sense. The last 3 games for Leverkusen are 3 finals in literal sense, because each win will be a history for the club.
