Nope, never. I've had a few friends who have hit it by a bit, not a life-changing amount but enough to splurge for a couple of days to a week with no problem. That has never encouraged me to try to achieve it though lol, kind of ignores the purpose of having fun by playing it since you're now playing it to earn money, which is a trap zone that's pretty hard to escape from if you fall in it. Nonetheless I have felt jealousy over it, I just never let it go over my head.
As for jackpot stories, I'd have to hit one first before telling one

That may be because it wasn't a true jackpot? But if it is and it's been a long time you saw your friend living the moment/best times of their life every single time or day, I think you will also get curious to feel what it's like but first, you need to win a life-changing amount of money just like them through gambling because it may not be possible to achieved it in a short span of time through working and other traditional source.
When you play gambling, I am sure that you will still enjoy it even though there is a pressure if you are risking a significant amount either through each bet, or by bankroll and the more you will enjoy if you got lucky and win huge but yeah, this can be a trap too, so it's also best to just stick within our limits.
