I completely agree Leverkusen success this season under Xabi leadership has been truly impressive. While it is natural for fans to have their own expectations sometimes going against grain can lead to even greater improvements. Defending their title won't be easy especially with powerhouses like Bayern Munich and other strong contenders. However with Xabi at helm and addition of more talented players I believe Leverkusen has the potential to rise to the challenge and continue their upward trajectory. Xabi guidance and the team determination will be key to their success in the next season.
And this definitely makes Leverkusen's targets even bigger next season. Of course, this makes Xabi have a much bigger challenge than this season. It won't be easy for Xabi. but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Leverkusen certainly gives Xabi access to choose the top players he is targeting, and this can help Xabi to realize even bigger dreams and targets for Leverkusen.
However, I have heard several rumors that there are several big clubs who want Xabi to become their coach. And when asked by journalists, unfortunately Xabi did not want to comment. It's natural, because after all, Xabi just wanted to celebrate Leverkusen's victory in the DFB Pokal and also their success with the team.
Source: Xabi-LeverkusenIf I am in the shoes of Xabi Alonso, I will not leave Bayern Leverkusen just now because he has just succeeded in creating a grade A team out of an average team, so he is better of at the club. He understands the players, they love and respect him and he has been lucky with the team as well, they then should he leave to go and start all over in another club. Leaving now will be one of the worse mistakes he can make and I am sure it will affect his career so much. Take for instance, if he leaves and join another club and end up not achieving anything, that will be a big slap to his career because everyone will conclude that it was just luck that helped him win the German Bundesliga, the cup and also go to Europa league final.
I am one of the millions of people who still think that Xabi's actions are extraordinary because he only lost 1 game in all the matches he played throughout the year and this defeat was in the UEL final. Yes, he made a great gem out of an average team. They eliminated Bayern in the Bundesliga and did not lose a match until reaching the UEL final. I don't think there will be a similar performance next year because there are not always such great statistics, but Leverkusen will have a successful season again.
