Great news for Aston Villa fans today the club have signed Unai Emery to a 5 year contract
https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2024/may/27/unai-emery-agrees-new-five-year-contract/Although the previous agreement was until 2027, but apparently after Aston Villa's historic first Champions League appearance and 4th place in the EPL the management decided to renew and extend the agreement with Unai Emery.
Great decision for both sides, because Emery is just great at coaching average teams and making them successful, as he did before with Sevilla and Villereal, and now with Aston Villa and the club management now has a reliable head coach with whom they can build a strategy for years to come.
The 52-year-old Spaniard deserves to have this contract. He has changed the fortune of Aston Villa, a club that was sitting in 17th position when he took over after the sack of Steven Gerrard. The club finished fourth qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since 1982–83. The fans and the club owners are satisfied with his performance which is why they extended his contract. He was able to take Aston Villa to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League this season. maybe he can replicate the same feat next season in the Uefa Champions League.
Xavi that almost cried because Barcelona executives and fans weren't appreciating his work while managing Barcelona is what you guys are asking to come and manage Chelsea, with desperation of fans and board of directors asking for too much, if someone like Xavi should come to Chelsea and nothing changes, they will frustrate him and Todd Boehly will be incline to sell the hel remaining part of the club.
Clubs like Barcelona are trophy-hungry. A trophyless season is equal to failure in Barcelona. Staying in such a club for two or three seasons without a Champions League trophy will lead to a sack. Xavi is not a bad coach but he performed below Blaugrana's standard so he has to leave. I don't think the Spanish coach is on the list of managers Chelsea is chasing to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
