Manchester United did not need this new competition because it will be a distraction for them next season, they do not have a good side to compete in Europe. I wanted Manchester United to have only the premier league to play for and then they can have all the concentration that they will need to secure a top 4 finish. Playing as bad as Manchester United is playing and winning a trophy is not a good thing. Now they will be having double mind to sack Erik Ten Hag because he has been winning them trophies but not improving the squad for competing for the title. Manchester united used to be title winners or potential winners in the past but they have been reduced to what they are now, the club management needs to do something about their current form by hiring a new manager and not a coach that is not improving anyone.
They beat City in the cup final and you say they can't compete in the Eurocups, why not? I am almost convinced that if ten Hag (or any other coach) can strengthen the defensive line and either get Onana to show a more consistent performance, as he did in the final, or even change the goalkeeper, then United will be able to achieve much better results. I like Ten Ham because he is confident in himself, the question of his future fate at Manchester United has not yet been resolved, and he is already tired of constant questions about what will happen next, and he constantly answers that if they don’t want to see him at Manchester United, he will go to another team and win trophies there.
Manchester United currently have good performances and it is because there were new player in the front line and i must tell you that they are doing pretty well. I will also agree with you that the problem they are facing comes from the defense. They need new defensive players this upcoming season. To support it they need a better left winger someone better than Gernacho. This guy misses a lot of opportunists in every match and such opportunities could be seen as a potential goal opportunity.
Onana on the other hand is a good goal keeper so he shouldn't be changed. A strong defensive player paring with Onana would make the defense strong enough to compete in the Europa and EPL competitions.
