With next season I think Xabi Alonso will do his best for his team. It is true that defending the title will be difficult because the competition will definitely get tougher in the new season. Also, with Leverkusen being a very good team at the moment, I think they will maintain it and become an even bigger team, but it will be a difficult journey for them.
Defending the title will definitely be difficult because every team will want to be prepared to give a bigger challenge this time around, Bayern Munich who performed poorly this season will not want to repeat the same mistakes as last season they will be even more prepared to retain their title. They are about to sign a new coach and hopefully they will be back to their normal form. Alonso might find it difficult especially if he doesn’t sign new players to the team. Defending the title will be difficult but i believe retaining a spot in the champions league is likely to happen.
Leverkusen has really performed extraordinary this season. Even though it was very unfortunate they had to lose to Atalanta. Even though that one match would make them the only team in history with a perfect record throughout the season! It is a record that is impossible to repeat even for Leverkusen themselves. Maybe this will be one of the most memorable seasons.
I felt bad for them when they lost the Europa League final because i knew it was the only difficult match left for the season and if they can win it ending the season with a perfect record is very like to happen because the final of the season is against a division B side and in a final so there is no excuses for not winning the match. It was unfortunate they had to lose but they still had a wonderful season. Let’s see if they can replicate the same performance this coming season.
