What they achieved this season is more than enough to make them the status of a champion team with extraordinary performances this season. I also agree that their failure in the Europa League does not reduce the impressive performance they were able to show. There will definitely be disappointment, but that should have been overcome by their success in the domestic league.
It should also be remembered that for the first time in 120 years they have not won the Bundesliga, and this season they managed to record a history that will be engraved in gold ink.
