I hope Barcelona does that especially to sell De Jong. How could their club's finances be so messed up just to pay one player every week? If I'm not mistaken De Jong's salary for that week was 730k Euros and it was very unreasonable with his less consistent performance and frequent injuries making him the player with the highest salary at Barcelona.
It is possible that Hansi Flick should give advice to management to sell some of his players and he can target the players he needs in the squad. Because this is his first season managing Barcelona, he will definitely be careful and not want to make a mistake. Full trust in him must be repaid by winning one trophy at least next season.
In this season, Frenkie de Jong had 20 appearance in La Liga and success scoring two goals although he most injury but success getting almost 50% appearance for this season. His contract left until June 2026 and getting two season later will stay with Barcelona and getting highest salary payment than other players. Recent Frenkie de Jong market values around 70 million euro and I doubt any teams will make offer on this price behind not consistent performance in this season.
I think Frankie de Jong future with Barcelona depend on Hansi Flick decision will give him space in his tactician or not for next season, Barcelona less option for holding midfielder and I sure new manager Hansi Flick priority for defending him next season if difficult to sign new players how Barcelona still face with financial problem.
So Barcelona will still be burdened by De Jong for another 2 years? this is absolutely crazy and will only cost the club more. Actually, there is still a team that wants to sign his contract, namely Manchester United, but it seems like Barcelona doesn't want to lose him and prefers to keep him with an exorbitant salary.
De Jong will still be Hansi Flick's first choice considering his role in the midfield is very important but in my opinion it is not a problem that arises from him and more about the salary being too large which means Barcelona is dying financially. Again, if there are other viable player options, I think Hansi Flick should help Barcelona release De Jong because this is very unhealthy for the club's finances and will be further eroded if it continues.
