Well there's Bitcoin, (a ton of copies and renditions of bitcoin with different names ripped off from the same source code), and NXT. The reason NXT is having so much success now with additional development is because they had the resources to develop a coin from scratch in the first place.

There are rumors about other coins being written from scratch(like NEM) but at the moment there aren't any.


Seriously WTF is going on in the alt world? When I first came in and started researching all the different coins, it was: copy, copy, copy and I wondered how there could even be such a demand for the same @#%@ code copied over and over with a different name!
