Hi All,
We at TagPesa are excited to be part of the bitcoin community in a tangible way by being included as part of seedcoin SF2 offering on Havelock.
About TagPesa
TagPesa limited is building a platform that will allow for trading of crypto-currencies in East Africa and simplify the process of money transfer for them
in different areas around the world. Our main focus for remittance in the first year of operation will start with the South Sudanese community in Australia who in 2012
sent a total of AUD24.6Million dollars and paid AUD2.4Million approximately in fees. Another target market in East Africa for remittance is the constant intracountry travellers
who have to remit money within the region for various reasons that include job mobility and family mobility. These market specifically describes the South Sudanese in large part
due to their need for aiding family members in different countries either locally or internationally.
In lots of cases family Mobility by South Sudanese is due to the need for better educational, health and other services available in the neighbouring countries that are yet to be
be built locally due to decades of war. As a result the need for remittance locally and international is without doubt.
About the Founder = Nhial Majok
I have lived in 4 different countries in East Africa during my early years, finally resettling 10 years ago in Australia where I currently work in the IT Industry. I have worked in
the australian government and the australian private sector with experience in both small and large companies. I have also been using the remittance services available in australia for over
10 years and understand the fundamental needs for a large section of africans that have travelled to other locations locally and international to remit money with ease back to their loved ones.
I have extensive cultural experience locally in East Africa, having lived and studied there for nearly 14 years prior to migrating to australia. I speak the local language swahili, have used Mpesa,
MTN money, Airtel Money, Dahabshiil and Western Union at various points in my life to send money to loved ones. I believe alot more can be done very profitably to make life easier for africans and the
world economy as a flow on effect.
How will the Money Transfer & Bitcoin Trading work:
TagPesa Exchange - Bitcoin Focused Part - We are using the tagbond api and apps to create an exchange that will provide users with the ability to trade bitcoin and also convert between bitcoin/USD/Euro
to local currency at the users convenience. Any of our users can then go to our agents that will allow them to convert the balance to cash in return for their virtual balance and a small fee for the agent's service.
TagPesa will always then balance accounts with the agents in question on a weekly basis or as needed.East African's can register with us to have any of their relatives internationally from anywhere in the world send
us a bitcoin balance that we can convert into local currency and transfer it to any of their registered relatives via the cheapest method available in each country.
TagPesa Remittance - USD Dollar Focused Part - International Mpesa like App & SMS Based Money Transfer System:
The reality of Bitcoin is such that, there are some jurisdictions that have banks a bit uneasy with providing banking services in that space. This coupled with the lack of knowledge regarding bitcoin in comparision to the USD Dollar means that our target market will need a USD Dollar focused remittance capability as a bridging solution with the ability to add bitcoin where needed. As such the remittance platform will target the East Africans starting with a market that I am very well acquainted with; the South Sudanese Market. We will brand this as coinremit, it will function directly as a payment gateway handling multicurrency too, with the ability of our customers to use sms as a functional gateway for money transfer. It's app will handle balances in similar fashion to Mpesa but offer the ability for users that move from one country to another in the region a multicurrency solution that allows them to withdraw cash anywhere regionally.
