Toni Kross is a legend at Real Madrid and he closed the season by winning two prestigious trophies as a final farewell because he had chosen to retire. The fans of course lost one of the most influential players in the Real Madrid team because Toni Kroos presence on the field was always able to make a big contribution to the team in achieving victory. But with his decision to retire, of course it is a decision he has thought about and he will enjoy his retirement with lots of time with his family.

Apart from that, Real Madrid is dominated by young players and perhaps only Luca Modric is one of the remaining senior players in the team. Yes, we'll see whether Luca Modric will stay with Real Madrid because currently discussions about the contract are still continuing and hopefully Real Madrid will give Luca Modric time for the next season.
The regeneration in Madrid squad is done impressively, they don't seem to have a transitional phase remembering they keep winning trophies while doing it. They will surely be lost their leadership in the midfield if Luka Modric chooses to retire either. The La Decima personnel will be gone one by one. I just didn't expect Kroos would retire before Modric remembering Modric is quite older than him.

The young players in Madrid squad are not prospects anymore, they have become the backbone of the team while the senior players are still there. This is the best pattern of regeneration in a big club I have ever seen. Luka Modric is giving full hand on Modric to decide his own future as a respect for his contributions and loyalty. He deserves it all due to his legacy at the club as one of the biggest legend.

Toni Kroos closed a decade of success with Real Madrid and his relationship with Luka Modric in the most impressive way: lifting the Champions League Cup. Their glorious era. In the Champions League, Kroos and Modric together won 5 championships in 10 seasons. That means half of the events that UEFA organizes. I believe he is still capable of playing top football in Europe for a few more years, but he wants to retire with glory. If he and Germany win the EURO championship, Kroos will complete his complete collection of titles at the club and team levels.

Real Madrid must learn to live without Kroos, while Modrid will spend more time on the bench. Luka Modric can follow in Toni Kroos' footsteps and leave Real Madrid this summer, thereby closing a brilliant era at the Bernabeu. In that context, Los Blancos needs "blockbuster" contracts to continue to maintain success. In fact, Carlo Ancelotti wants Kroos, and Modric to stay for another season. But this is also the right time for Los Blancos to start a new era. In the context of Kylian Mbappé about to arrive at the Bernabeu, the departure of these two veterans will reduce financial pressure on Real.
