You're right scammers have been using this above mentioned platform to scam people this is why we need to be extremely careful when accesing those platform, however clicking a link that is been sent by unknown person is very risky. because you don't know his intention, most of this scammers has been using this link to hack Facebook account, this is why we need to be careful with those link so as to avoid being a victim to them.
Try to store your assets in a hard wallet like trezor or use a separate computer specifically for storing your assets. Scammers have many ways and tricks to trick you. My friend was once fooled by the new pepenovax project, if I remember correctly. He heard about the meme coin in the community on social media and then he tried searching for it on Google. He found the link pepenovax.com and started connecting the wallet and then his assets were sucked by the website. I don't know about pepenovax is it true or scam but my friend lost about few dollars. Luckily he didn't use his main address and only used the address created for the new project.
