Spain are calmly set up, so direct with the ball in this game, playing so clinically with intense pressure on Croatia which got me thinking that there's a possibility for more goals to come in for Spain. This game is beyond the strength of Modric and it's just going to be the right thing to do if the Croatia coach could substitute him and bring in a younger player because Modric to me he's just not giving that impact as he's known due to age. However, am not seeing any signs of a comeback from Croatia.
In my opinion, Spain was not all that convincing, Croatia Was just bad. It was like Croatia didn't know what to do with the ball whenever they got the ball. Their midfield has the experience, but they don't have the strength to do what needs to be done. Their attack too is poor. They're comfortable holding the ball in midfield, but when it gets to the final third or in the box they don't really know how to create chances so they can score.
Spain too just happens to be the better team, but if they had met a team that is very good, young, technical, strong and experienced like France, England or Maybe Germany, the result would have been very different if they played the way they did today.
Their next match against Italy might be a tougher test because Italy is a more disciplined team.
Firstly Croatia were superior to Spain in many ways, they had more control of the ball, more shots and so on, but their execution was very poor because I can't say that Spain's defence was great. No, they also failed, but Croatia just couldn't realise their chances.
As for Italy, I don't even know what to expect from them, they seem to win in their obvious match, but at the same time they conceded the fastest goal in the history of the Championship
