Well, there will be always good and bad disadvantages if you just remain silent about you are investing in Bitcoin or let's say you are making money through Bitcoin like trading.
Invest or trade silently without noise the public on what I am doing, is better practice for my investment, trading activities and my privacy, security too.
If people know I am investing or trading Bitcoin, when they meet me, they will talk about it and can create some pressure on me, affect my emotion then decision in investment or trading, it's not good at all.
Privacy and security of my fund and my life are other important things to consider.
Being silent related to investment and other personal stuff is really important since we are just avoiding our self to any possible problem what can be bought up by sharing some information about what we are doing and what activities we are participating.
If they know bitcoin is good then they might think about that we are earning a lot so for sure our life might became in messy situation especially if they are the type of person who ask money for those people which they take they can take advantage on. Also this is really a security risk since there might be a curious criminal minded person might got interest on what we have especially if they share the information then get curious to know how much income we get from our bitcoin investment.
Keeping quiet and not bragging is the right thing to do, but not for everyone, especially those closest to us. In my opinion, we should at least let our wives or parents know that we are investing in bitcoin. Although there is a risk that they could reveal that secret to others, on the other hand it has the advantage that as I said, if an unexpected accident happens to us, our bitcoins will not be wasted.
Like the story I just encountered, my friend's mother suddenly passed away but did not have time to write a will and reveal to her children where the money was kept. Currently, her children still have not found the money she worked hard all her life to save. This is the disadvantage of not sharing secrets with 1 or 2 people closest to you.
