Xabi Alonso will have to maintain last season's performance if he wants to still be held in high regard in Bayer Leverkusen. Club management don't really give a damn about your past performance because they want current results. It will be difficult for Leverkusen to replicate the unbeaten run next season but they should at least make a mark in the UCL League next season.
I will not totally accept that the loss to Atalanta proved that Xabi was lucky because they enjoyed an unbeaten run until they played the Europa League finals. Alonso built a good team that had all the quality to win games and they achieved much. For me, I will say that they were just unlucky to lose their most important game for the season.
As much as I love Bayern Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso, I'm afraid I cannot agree when you talk about them being unlucky, Atalanta earned it. When you go back to see that game, thru studied Bayern Leverkusen very well and made it difficult for them to even operate in midfied during that finals. Most importantly, I loved the man to man marking they gave Bayern Leverkusen. I'm giving all of the credits to Atalanta and at most Ademola Lookman.
Doing the unbeaten would be difficult for Bayern Leverkusen next season. Lol.
Some players are keen to leave the club though, at most Jonathan Tah who has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Hopefully this doesn't affects them. I see what that player is doing, he is trying to think long term so he could win more trophies whenever Bayern Munich begins dominating again. But, that I doubt, we'll see to that though!
