That was actually one of the reasons why they could not win the premier League, they wanted to use one stone to get two birds, which cost them the chance of becoming the premier League champion, Arteta targets was to win Bayern Munich so that they will be able to stand a chance of qualifying for the champions League finals but what he failed to understand was that it will really weaken there performance and to make it worst Arteta use all the strength they have on that match, so after losing to Bayern Munich the fighting spirit they had and there performance reduces and most of the players had not really recover from there match against Bayern Munich, so actually with the performance Arsenal had on that season if they had channel all there strength on the premier League alone it would have likely turn out on there favor.
