Yeah there is that and besides de Ligt is a Dutch player as well so I also believe Erik ten Hag has intentions to bring him to Manchester United. 
I believe Lisandro Martinez and de Ligt would make a really great duo in the defense line. They both worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax. Defense is the immediate area to improve for the Red Devils so this would be like a medicine for them.

Varane has announced his departure as you must have heard. He hasn't been playing like in the past anymore. He has been quite inconsistent so I believe this is the best for both sides. Filling his place with a defender like de Ligt would be perfect!

Varane has been Manchester United most available defender despite his Injury, I never expected this early leaving bit it's what it's right now.
I'm wishing him all of the very best ahead and hope he wins more trophies. You know he has being Sir Alex Fergusons dream signature to partner up with Johnny Evans. It feels good to finally see Erik Ten Hag making that happen only that they're doing it for a short time.
Asides Varane leaving, Victor Lindelof would also leave to join Jose Mourinho. So Manchester United will have to get both de Ligt and Branthewaite from Everton.
That lad has pace amd Manchester United would need such a player with that pace and height.
I love the way Manchester United are tackling the defense issues first. Erik Ten Hag will most likely win the Premier League Competition in the next two seasons.
