Wasn't the Winklevoss system to have parts multisig in different safe deposit boxes around the world? It'll take you 2 days by private jet, but you can feel reasonably safe that way

I'd say you can give the washers the same treatment as a hard drive: clamp it in a vice, get an angle grinder, and destroy the letters.
