We go for monthly or quarterly health routine checkups not only because we're sick but to  reduce any risk of getting sick before knowing. Right? same behavior can be applied to gambling , do you agree or it's not necessary until you start getting a gambling problem .
That is an interesting point of view. Maybe to go to therapy for preventive reasons could be a good idea, as mental health is so important in the same intensity physical health is, or at least should be for every individuals. The therapy is the right spot where you can talk about things you usually don't talk to other people, or don't feel comfortable doing so. To only start therapy when the addiction is already a reality, seems to make the problem harder to be solved. To deal with prevention is always the best approach in every cases.

Maybe many people could avoid developing addictions if they went to therapy before their problems took place and they accumulated even more traumatic events on their lives.
